Dating - Dad's Horn

I hope that some others may be able to contribute to this Story. I remember asking Mom & Dad once about their dating years. This particular story goes that because Mom came from such a "close" family... I think this means that nobody had any secrets - that mom's aunts & Uncles were somewhat keeping tabs on the comings and goings of the cousins. I am not sure what vehicle dad had at the time, but he did say that he had a unique horn. I think he said it played yankee doodle. Well, to make things a little easier for them (the aunts & uncles) to keep track of when Dad picked mom up for a date and when he brought her home he would start playing his horn at the beginning of 13th east either on the north or the south depending on which way they were coming from. He would play it over and over again till he picked her up and then again when he brought mom home. That way no one had to ask how long she had been out or what time she had gotten in.

I had heard that story as well, but not in the detail you have given.

I think the car was Dad's 37 Chev. He had put foxtails on the aerial, fuzzy dice on the mirror and a necker knob on the steering wheel.

I think this is the same car that they drove to Reno to get married. It is also the same car that almost got them shot when Dad pulled into Vere's yard at 5:00 in the morning and tooted the horn!
