Faith, cars and trucks

Isn't it interesting how much our parents have influnced our lives. And how much they still do even when they are gone.. How we are not much different than them and how much we pass on to our own children. How their faith and hopes and lessons have influenced our lives. I remember your Mom talking about the sacrifices the family made to send Ken, Joe and Craig on missions. But she always said it was worth it and the blessings were much more than the sacrifice.
I know Joe misses being able to call his dad for any auto. help he needs. Your dad was a walking book on Auto repair and he knew how to fix any thing. Except when there was a Wedding or a funneral to go to and every Car or truck would break down. But the next day they would all work again or very soon after. It never failed. Chris

Mom and Dad did sacrifice to send Craig, Joe, and I on missions - Joe and I at the same time.

I was a bit surprised when Dad said that he would support me. I thought that he would tell me that if I wanted it bad enough, I'd earn my whole way. He didn't, and I was surprised.

They did sacrifice... perhaps what isn't well known is that...
I went to Dad and asked him to support me on my mission and he said... " I don't know how we'll do it but if you want to go we'll find a way..." A few days later Darrell comes to me and says, "Craig, don't worry about expenses on your mission. I'll make sure that what ever Dad can't handle...I'll make up the difference!" To this day I don't know what Dad and Darrell worked out... All I know is that I never worried about finances on my mission. Darrell taught me a great deal about sacrifice on that day. I don't know how much Darrell put into the bank.. but I am sure it was significant. I asked Darrell about it when I came home and he said... "Lets just say that Dad and I did it together..." (paraphrased I don't remember Darrells exact comments) Darrell do you remember this conversation? And while we're at it... THANKS! You have, by giving me the ability to serve a mission been a great blessing in my life! Thanks!

At the same time that Craig was out on his mission Darrell was also footing the initial expense of my pep club dues, uniforms and stuff. Then I would clean his car, room or something to pay back some of the money. As I remember Darrell also footed most of the bill for my first wedding.. Again while Craig was on his mission.
