Christmas Clothes
Some of the grandchildren may wonder why they never received toys from grandma and grandpa Rees at Christmas. The gifts given were always clothes. The reason for this was because they did not want to compete with "Santa Claus". When we, their children, were young it didn't seem to matter what "Santa Claus" brought to our home it wasn't as terrific as what Grandma and Grandpa had purchased. This was a very difficult situation for them and although this was not as much of a factor when I was a child as it was when Ken was a child, they still vowed that they would never compete with "Santa." This was their way of trying to make their children's lives a bit easier at Christmas time.

Absolutely true! We didn't make it easy for Mom and Dad when we were growing up. With grandma and grandpa Wheeler living so close it was easy to play one against the other. Christmas is an easy example, but there are others.
I feel sorry for that now, but I certainly did it as much as any one of us.
i always looked forward to christmas, cause it meant that i would be getting a giant candy cane filled with M&M's. i had always remembered that these came from grandma and grandpa, but now i am doubting my memory and wondering if they came from someone else...
one year when i was about 12 years old i was opening my present from grandma and grandpa, and was excited to find a brand new pair of jeans, then as i unfolded them i found out that they were about a foot too long!(somewhere i have a pic of me holding up these enormous pants) after about 2 years i pulled the pants out of the closet to discover that i was now tall enough to wear them. i wore them till i had holes in both knees and they got thrown out cause my parents said i looked like an orphan!
